Korea Korea Korea!

In about twelve weeks I will be getting on a plane for Korea!

It's been a whirlwind adventure; deciding to go to Korea. Cote and I had been on a Korean Pop binge for a few months now, culminating in our trip 2 day trip to NYC to see SM Town 2011 at Madison Square Garden. Awesome!

I only actually knew BoA (she's the Queen of KPop) and a few songs by Super Junior (a 13 member boy band, yeah!). But wow was that concert fun! SM Town is a concert from SM Entertainment, one of the biggest entertainment/music industry giants in Korea. The concert features their biggest acts including: TVXQ, SuperJunior, BoA, f(x), Kangta, Girls' Generation(SNSD), and ShiNEE.

My favorites are definitely SNSD, BoA, and Shinee and Super Junior as well. So since the concert Cote and I have watched countless MVs (music videos), and watched Korean Variety Shows, reality shows, and Cote is a big fan of Korean Dramas, I am still a little wary after watching about 20 minutes of one. A little too cheesy, much like Canada's Degrassi. Maybe I'll find some I like. The best show I've watched is "Hello Baby" with the literal premise being, SNSD (9 member girl group) taking care of a baby by themselves. Quite humorous, and somehow the season was 22 episodes long? And I watched every single episode. Plus Shinee's edition of about 12 episodes. Yes.

Anyway, so Cote and I mentioned that we should go teach English in Korea. Of course, she's still in school so she can't until she graduates. I, thinking the process would take awhile, applied to a couple of positions.

And then I started hearing back. I applied for particular positions but through recruiters so now I had some recruiters working for me in Korea looking for positions that matched my specifications. I had about 8 phone interviews with various schools, I am actually still waiting to hear back from 4 of them. But I chose a school and sent my contract back! I'll be starting in late February and will be teaching Kindergarten and Elementary school students in a city outside of Seoul, called Anyang City.

I'll be staring a new blog, made up of entirely my Korean preparations, and when the time comes my Korean adventure.

Ti-do-shows-and what not

Here goes. I am now twenty-three years old. What. I can no longer sing Yellowcard's "Twenty-three" because of the line "We're almost twenty-three and you're still made at me". Well, I guess I'll change the words to "You're almost twenty-three" and sing it to any of my non twenty-three year friends.

Life has been going. I visited Sarah at Springfield College last weekend for her Homecoming. It was great. She has really wonderful friends and an adorable house. We played Cranium and went to their Home Show which is a gymnastics/dance showcase. It was amazing! So many skills I do not have. I did get super upset because one of the performances had a theme of U.S. Military and four of the five branches of the military were included. Guess which one was ignored. Yeah, like always people overlook the Coast Guard. It's the best branch obviously. Anyway, rant over. (It will actually never be over in mind). Overall, great time in Springfield.

A few weeks ago I went to Jacque's Cabaret with Victoria, Cote, and two of Victoria's friends from Harvard. Jacque's Cabaret is actually a lovely Drag Show. It was absolutely fabulous. The drag queens even did a Burlesque performance. Am-a-zing.

I am writing this out of order. I have a terrible memory. Okay. New shows. I love new shows.

Pan Am
I decided to watch the first episode of this since it was available On Demand for free. I actually really enjoyed it even though I thought it was not going to have any plot. It kind of does, and it's probably my second favorite new show of the season.

Ringer
Sarah Michlle Gellar. What else can I say? She'll always be Buffy, but she does a really good job playing twins Siobhan/Bridget. Also another one where I thought plot was going to be an issue, but it's actually relatively fast-paced and intriguing. It definitely has been enjoyable so far.

Secret Circle
My favorite new show. Another win for Kevin Williamson. Paired wonderfully by the CW with The Vampire Diaries on Thursday nights.

Community
Not actually new. But this is the first season I am watching in real-time. I watched season 1 in like a week and couldn't wait for the new season. Second season is already really great, I do miss being able to watch it all at once. Ah the life that was!

I might check out some other new shows, but I've already tried Terra Nova and Charlie's Angels and they are out unless someone convinces me otherwise.

La di da September

It's September. Once again a major fail on my part with updating. Oh well. Lots to talk about then!

So I graduated. Woot woot. And I moved back home to Winchester. Then I struggled for like a month trying to find a job. Then I found a job. Nice quick recap.

Let's see. At the end June we celebrated Sarah's 22nd birthday and Kelly and I made an Elephant themed cake. Is themed not a word? This is telling me it is not. Oh well.

In July we celebrated my brother John's birthday. Actually we "celebrated" because he refused to let us throw him a party and did not want cake and presents. Instead I invited everyone over to our house on his birthday, hosted a "Puzzle Tournament" and the winner got cake. And then we sang a congratulations song and gave presents to John. That part didn't really make sense, since John was not the winner GASP! But when people asked me what John wanted for his birthday in the weeks prior I manipulated them all into getting him things we both wanted. Then I told John that all the gifts were actually for me but I would share with him. Also, I didn't get him a present. I followed his rules and saved money!

So I've been working at this company called Luggage Forward for almost three months now. Wow does time go by fast. They made me Insurance Manager because the old one left. It's not so much fun and I'm the only one who knows what to do, but somehow it will work out. Mostly I take phone calls and help clients make orders and figure stuff out. And I am an Operations Analyst/International Specialist. Basically I make customs documents and air way bills for the luggage we send. Best part about work is making packets (I don't know why I love things that this so much, same went with doing mailings at Penguin). And whenever the co-founder's dog, Lola, comes in. Lola is great. Also every Monday is Pizza Monday and Friday is Ice Cream Friday. Nice.

I went to visit May May in NYC and we went on a date to governor's island. We rented bikes and road around, it was quite lovely. For some reason our outings tend to end up like dates. Also, the next day I ended my relationship with Netflix. I am still furious at it for hiking up the prices. And now I hear they are actually putting a stop to same-time streaming. Ouch, what's the point of you now Netflix? Nothing. Nothing. We did have some good times though, and you did introduce me to Buffy and Mustard Pancakes. What's the point of a world without those two things?

At this point I am going through my calendar and looking at major events. I forget about things a lot. Totally forgot I went to New Hampshire. But I did. We went to John A's dad's candy shop in Laconia and we ate tons of ice cream and made lemonade. His family owns the whole pier and it's pretty sweet. Good times.

Oh, before that Captain America came out and all my dreams came true. LOL. It was good.

Then I went to New York again and was reunited with Conley 206 at Aleah's birthday party. That was fun. Also she has cute dogs and one of them was named Kit and I kept pretending it was the dragon from The Immortals. I didn't tell anyone this so I laughed to myself a lot

Sarah, Bethany, John, John, Mary, Peter, and I had a Staycation where we all slept over Bethany and John's house and played board games. The next day we watched Youtube videos on their TV and ended up watching almost every one of my videos. Then we went to Sarah's house and Hurricane Irene took out the power at my house, but not at Sarah's. Well not until like 6:00 PM. We ordered Chinese food and everyone (John, me, my mother, my father, Peter, Cheryl, Bob, Kelly, Sarah, Mary, Pat, Liam, and Elmira) all ate Chinese food in the dark while singing songs with particular words in it. I attempted to fit "We Didn't Start the Fire" for every answer.

Alas, Alas, I think I am basically caught up. It is raining a lot. I really like the rain but it makes me sleepy. That's what I am using as my excuse for sleeping in later than usual. And also for not going running. Yesterday I had the crazy idea to train for the Boston Marathon that is in April of 2012. Uhhhh not actually going to happen but I'll give it a go. I think I might put "train for a marathon" on my bucket list and not "complete a marathon" Just incase. Don't want to be too crazy.

Good day.
Seriously, it's raining A LOT.

Life Changing

Hello! Woo, look at me I am blogging again! Lots has happened since I last posted so here goes with a quick run down.

I graduated college, exactly one month and one day ago. It was Judgment Day, but sadly there was no exciting disappearing of people or earthquakes. Lame! Graduation was very nice, it was beautiful out even though we all thought it was going to rain. I can't believe it has already been a month since I saw MayMay, Aleah, Genna, and Dan! Miss those biddies!

So I moved back home to Winchester. And I got to spend some time with baby Liam! And I got to see a lot of my high school friends (the DBCs!) at Katelyn's graduation party. I also got to celebrate John and Bethany's wedding which was beautiful! Rachel and I bartended and we were awesome and made lots of tips! All this and more while applying for jobs and going on a couple of interviews.

Thankfully, I did get a job! It's in Boston and pretty cool so far though I am still learning a lot of the things I need to know so it's a bit overwhelming, but in time I will be a genius! We shall see how it goes.

So new job in Boston means I am going to stay and live at home for awhile until I can save up some money and then hopefully get my own place somewhere fun. And we'll see how things go from there, and who knows where I'll end up!

It's President's Day today and I'm heading back to Fordham after a lovely weekend at home. Saturday was my grandmother's 90th birthday party! It was the first time in a long time that I saw my cousins and aunt and uncle. It was really amazing that everyone was able to make it. Here I am with the entire Kronenberg clan.

A little over a week ago we celebrated '100 Nights Till Graduation. Crazy! My roomies and I had a great time getting dressed up, playing with balloons, and dancing all night. But the 100 days thing is freaking us out. We have a lot to do before those days are up. We are diligently working on our Senior Year Bucket List. My hardest one will be watching all 100 AFI films. I'm only on 52 so I need to buckle down on that.

Anyway, we keep on keeping on. Good things to come I guess. We shall see.

Academy Awards

The ten movies nominated for best film.

I have so far seen Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The Social Network, and Toy Story 3. So only six more. Hopefully I can watch/get access to all of them before February 27th which is when the Oscars are.

I am so pumped Toy Story 3 is nominated. Great job Pixar, animated films need more respect.

Updates all around!

So. Last semester of senior year of college. Ouch. I already have so much senioritis and that paired with the fact that I lack academic drive anyway will sure to cause major problems. I always manage to get by though. I am taking one less class than usual because I don't need to take five and I don't have an internship so I will have a lot of free time. Might cause some problems as well.

So far so good at school, my classes are okay, I am looking forward to my Hollywood Genre class as well as my NY in Film class. Why wasn't I a communications major? I could have taken so many more film classes.

Updates in what I am doing/watching/reading/etc:

Books:
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Up Next:
The rest of the Sherlock Holmes novels and stories

Movies:
The Young Victoria (for a second time, it might be worthy of purchase)
Breakfast at Tiffany's (made my best friend watch it)
The Duchess (depressing but pretty good)
Solitary Man (loved the Fordham scenes, but the rest was awful)
21 (I did purchase this and it was as fun as I remembered)
Now and Then (a classic and a favorite!)
The Maltese Falcon (I had to watch it for my class and I actually really enjoyed it, plus that makes 42 of 100 for the top 100 AFI films)

Television:
Skins UK (watched two episodes, it was okay)
Skins US (watched the premiere, it was bad)
The Tudors (up to season 2, so far it is fabulous)
Laguna Beach (re-watched all of Season 1 haha for kicks)
The Cape (pretty good so far but hopefully they find story lines, I feel like they might not)
Being Human US (same as The Cape)

And of course I am keeping up with my favorites.

Music:
Currently on a Florence and the Machines, and Paramore kick

Yeah, I do others things too. Sometimes....
